I went to the post office today and mailed a couple of things.
First, I sent off this little guy to my friend in New Zealand. Many thanks to Bittersweet for posting the directions to make it. He was fun and quick to knit, and came out just adorable — but he also ended up being roughly 6" tall, which was too big for my original intent — so off he goes to Kim in Kiwi-land.

drumroll please… Et voilà! I can now unveil pictures of my latest sock design.
While you may have sipped champagne while you knit, I bet you haven’t ever knitted champagne glasses, in a veritable champagne fountain — complete with little bubbles!

OK, so you know I don't like to use the "m" word when it comes to knitting, because KNITTING is not actually MAGIC.
But a few weeks ago, in my "what-I-want-to-knit-this-year" list, I mentioned a yarn-usage technique that is often known as the "magic ball". Because this isn't actually a knitting technique so much as it is a clever way to use yarn, I decided I can more-or-less live with the "m" word in this case.

OK, OK, I admit that in the last post on this subject, I didn't spell out every little detail about exactly how I was going to finish this bad boy off… but then there would be no suspense left for the big surprise ending.
A few posts back, 
I mentioned that I seem to have developed not so much a New Year's Resolution, as an End-Of-Year Resolution: to finish up the last few remaining UFO's in my knitting pile. And so, I've been battling with this one.

And it's MINE! Yay!
This yarn comes from "Plum Crazy Ranch", and I bought it within 30 minutes of arriving at OFFF on Saturday morning. The creator said she'd had it hanging up for a year and a half — which at first I thought meant, no one had bought it for a year and a half, which I could not believe — and then she continued, "but I decided I could finally part with it."

OK, so obviously I am a sucker for pink. And being a redhead, this can be problematic — although I am starting to see more and more hairs that are, shall we say, colorless — so maybe this issue will resolve itself in time. (My hairdresser refers to them as "platinum highlights", BTW. Talk about spin!)

If you think waaaaay back, you might remember a few issues I had while trying to make some felted slippers for myself.
Of course, these were not just your garden variety felted slippers. No, I had to make it harder than that. My goal was to replicate my dearly beloved, but quite elderly, pink furry bunny slippers: Hip and Hop.

As part of "fun weekend", DH and I went and visited a place on the other side of the river, called "SCRAP".
SCRAP — The School and Community Reuse Action Project – is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and our mission is to promote creative reuse and environmentally sustainable behavior by providing educational programs and affordable materials to the community.

Last Friday, I made another attempt at a pair of felted slippers for myself. (For those of you keeping score, DH has a pair already that he wears & loves – made in 2004.)
