SKILL BUILDING

INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION
available Tues-Fri*     shop hours (10:30-6:00)

*may also schedule on weekends if space is available

One-on-one instruction on any topic, or assistance on any project. Specialties: Continental knitting, pattern alteration & design, finishing, crochet.

Class fee: $20 per hr. One-hour minimum; then prorated to nearest ½ hour.

 

CONTINENTAL KNITTING
Sunday, 11-2-08     1:30-3:30 pm

Learn to knit and purl while carrying the yarn in the left hand. Continental-style knitting is more efficient and can be much faster and easier on your hands and arms.

Please note this is NOT intended as an introductory knitting class. Basic knitting skills are a pre-requisite.

Supplies: practice yarn and needles.

Class fee: $25

 

READY, SET, SWEATER!
Saturday, 10-4-08     10:30-12:30 pm

Want to take the plunge and make a SWEATER??? This class is chock full of information to help make your first (or next) sweater project a success.

SEAMING
Thursday, 10-30-08     6:00–8:00 pm

Here’s a class dedicated to making finishing FUN! Seams are only a bugaboo if you’re not sure how to do them nicely. Once you experience the pride of sewing a beautiful seam, you won’t feel the same (bad) way about finishing!

Supplies:  tapestry needle; yarn for seaming; pre-knit swatches as per the homework sheet.

Class fee: $25

INTERMEDIATE PROJECTS

BRILLIANTLY BRIOCHE HAT
2 Saturdays, 9-6 and 9-13-08     1:00–3:00 pm

Brioche stitch makes a wonderful fabric that’s warm, lofty and stretchy and especially striking when worked in two colors. Tess will help you tame this tricky technique while you create a super cute hat. Make it bold and sporty or beautifully subtle according to your choice of yarn.

Previous experience knitting in the round required.

Class fee: $30

 


LISA’S FAIR ISLE HAT
2 Tuesdays, 10-21 and 10-28-08     6:00–8:00 pm

A perfect project to introduce you to the colorful world of Fair Isle knitting! We’ll discuss FI color choices, reading a chart, and some ways to avoid the "jog" when changing colors.

Previous experience knitting in the round required.

Class fee: $35
