Classes at Farmhouse Knit Shop are currently held only by appointment, with the exception of the Friday Group class. Class time is available during shop hours. Class policies are listed at the bottom of this page.

ALL LEVELS
INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION
available during shop hours
One-on-one instruction on any topic, or assistance on any project. One-hour minimum; then prorated to nearest ½ hour.

* Specialties: Continental knitting, pattern alteration & design, finishing, crochet.

Bring your knitting catastrophe for triage, or just bring your current project(s) for fun conversation and knitting time. If everyone’s (knitting-related) problems are fixed in time, a tutorial is included in the class.
This is a drop-in class with a max of 8 students. Seating is on a 1st-come, 1st -served basis. No signup is necessary.
Supplies: practice yarn and needles for tutorial.

Class fee: $10 per session. Or, a 4-session punch card can be purchased for $35.
BEGINNERS
KNITTING 101
available during shop hours

Hands-on learning of the basics: casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off, in the prevalent American style of knitting. Learn as much as you are comfortable with, in one 2-hour personal session.
Supplies: straight needles, US size 7-9; smooth yarn, medium weight, light color, wool or wool blend.
Class fee: $25
BASIC SOCKS
Four 2-hr sessions; available during shop hours

Believe it or not, socks are a great first project after a scarf! You learn essential techniques while working on a small project that will fit and feel fabulous! Make an average-size woman’s sock, using double-point needles, traditional top-down construction with a turned heel.
Supplies: sock yarn (7 – 8 sts/in), 320—360 yds; set of five dpn, US size 1. Basic sock pattern provided.
Class fee: $45
PARENT / CHILD COMBO

Learn to knit together with your child! Ages 6 and up. See KNITTING 101 above for class description.
Class fee: $25 per hr
FHKS CLASS POLICIES
Class size minimum of 3, maximum of 6. Instructor may cancel classes if minimum size is not met.
Student cancellations must be made at least 3 days in advance of the first class date.
Payment in full is required at beginning of class. Preferred payment is by cash or check. Credit cards may be used only by previous arrangement with instructor, and the class must be paid for 2 days ahead of time.
Please come prepared so we may maximize the time of all participants! ll supplies, as well as basic knitting equipment (i.e. scissors, markers), should be purchased ahead of time and brought to the first class. Complete any homework and ensure you are obtaining the correct gauge prior to class.
Cell phones should be turned off or to vibrate during class; any necessary calls should be taken away from the class area.
