Not to be immodest, but it’s happened a few times:  people look at something I’ve knitted and sigh, "I wish I could knit like you!"

Most of the time, my answer is, "Practice for 20 years."

But a few months ago, a knitter came to me and said she wanted "playing lessons".  I didn’t know what that meant; she told me that in golfing, it means you go out with a professional and just play a round of golf.  You learn things in the process of playing the game, rather than working on one specific aspect.

This appealed to me as a way to teach people who want to learn "how to knit like me", but it didn’t translate too well to real life knitting.  I mean, you can’t exactly have students coming over to sit and watch the movie with you and DH on Friday evening.

But, I think it will work quite well on a blog!

The plan is to pick a project, and post a series of articles as the drama unfolds.  Thus you can "knit along", either for real or just reading, and see what I do and the decisions I make.  And we’ll all see how it turns out in the end.
